Sustainable Bauxite Mining & Reclamation

Every bench we mine is refilled, re-soiled and replanted with native trees. Here is how Minequor works the land in Raigad and gives it back.

From mine to forest, in five stages

  1. Stage 1 of 5

    Mining, with topsoil banked

Before a bench is cut, the fertile topsoil is stripped and stored. Water sprays keep haul-road dust down.

  2. Stage 2 of 5

    Backfilling the pit

Once a bench is worked out, the pit is refilled with overburden and levelled, step by step.

  3. Stage 3 of 5

    Topsoil returned

The stored topsoil is spread back over the refilled ground, bringing its seeds and nutrients with it.

  4. Stage 4 of 5

    Native planting

Grass takes hold first, then saplings of local species are planted across the reclaimed ground.

  5. Stage 5 of 5

    Forest returns

The trees mature, the dust is gone and birds come back. The mine has become woodland again.

Our environmental practices

Topsoil preservationTopsoil is stripped and banked before excavation, keeping its seeds and nutrients ready for reuse on reclaimed ground.
Progressive reclamationWorked-out benches are backfilled and restored as mining moves on, rather than leaving the whole pit open until closure.
Dust suppressionWater sprays on haul roads and stockpiles keep dust down for workers and neighbours.
Native tree plantingLocal species are replanted on reclaimed ground so the land returns to woodland that suits the region.
Community engagementWe work to maintain positive engagement with the local host communities around the mine.

Zero harm. Every shift.

Safety is part of how the mine is planned, not an afterthought. We follow a zero-harm workplace practice in full compliance with DGMS norms, the safety standards set by India's Directorate General of Mines Safety.

Everyone who comes to work at the mine should go home the same way.

Responsible supply for our customers

Refineries, refractory makers and cement plants increasingly need to know how their raw materials are produced. Our customer partnership value means end-to-end transparency from pit extraction to port dispatch, including how the land is restored.

Sustainability FAQ

What happens to the land after bauxite is mined?

Each worked-out bench is backfilled with overburden and levelled, the stored topsoil is spread back over it, and grass and native tree saplings are planted so the land returns to woodland.

How does Minequor control dust?

Water sprays are used on haul roads and stockpiles to keep dust down.

What safety standards does Minequor follow?
