How it works

Pit to Port: How We Mine and Ship Bauxite

From the first sample to the loaded truck, every tonne of Minequor ore goes through the same six steps at our 175-acre bauxite operation in Raigad, Maharashtra.

Our six-step process

  1. 01

    Explore & sample

Geological mapping and grid sampling define the ore body before a single bench is cut. Sampling shows where the higher-grade zones lie, so mining can be planned around the grades buyers need.

  2. 02

    Open-cast extraction

We mine in benches using open-cast methods. Before any bench is cut, the fertile topsoil is stripped and stored in a bank so it can be returned during reclamation.

  3. 03

    Crushing

Run-of-mine ore is reduced on site to sizes the buyer's process can take, so customers receive ore ready for their grinding, digestion, calcining or kiln feed systems.

    On-site crushing
  4. 04

    Screen & grade

Screening splits the crushed ore into size fractions, then grading sorts lots by chemistry. This is how one ore body supplies metallurgical, refractory and cement grades.

  5. 05

    Test & certify

Samples are drawn at the minehead stockpile and again at loading. Testing twice confirms that chemistry and sizing stay consistent from the pit to the truck.

    Dispatch

Ore moves by bulk road freight on the national highway network and by port-bound shipping from the Konkan coast. Raigad sits on NH-66, with JNPA and Dighi Port in the district.

Quality control: tested twice

Consistency is what industrial buyers pay for. We sample every lot at the minehead stockpile, after crushing and grading, and again at loading. Comparing the two confirms that what was graded is what ships.

Grades are matched to each buyer's requirement: high Al₂O₃ and low reactive silica for alumina refineries, low iron and titania for refractory and abrasive makers, and monitored iron and silica for cement plants. Final specifications are agreed per contract and confirmed by lab analysis.

Logistics from Raigad

Raigad District sits on the NH-66 corridor along India's west coast, with direct links to the national highway network for bulk road freight to buyers across India.

Two ports lie within the district, JNPA and Dighi Port, giving port-bound shipping options from the Konkan coast for coastal and export cargo.

Safety on every shift

Operations follow a zero-harm workplace practice, in full compliance with DGMS (Directorate General of Mines Safety) norms. Everyone who comes to work at the mine should go home the same way. Read about our sustainability and safety practices.

Operations FAQ

What mining method does Minequor use?

Systematic open-cast mining in benches. Topsoil is stripped and banked before excavation, and worked-out benches are progressively backfilled and restored.

Does Minequor process ore on site?

Yes. The Raigad site has on-site crushing, screening and grading, so ore is supplied in the size fraction and chemistry the buyer needs.

How often is ore tested?

Every lot is sampled twice, at the minehead stockpile and again at loading. Final specifications are agreed per contract and confirmed by lab analysis.

Which ports serve the Raigad mine?

JNPA and Dighi Port are both in Raigad District, giving port-bound shipping options from the Konkan coast alongside road freight on NH-66.
